About Me

aagi kicsi.jpg

I'm Agnes Kovacs, teacher of over 30 years.

I was born in Hungary. I was first introduced to classical music in the sixth grade. First I started to learn the recorder and in one year started piano and oboe.  In 1989 I was accepted to Dohnanyi Erno Conservatory of Music Highschool, where I graduated in 1994 as oboe, music theory, solfeggio and piano musician with excellent praise of Maturity Examining Committee. In this year I was accepted to the Varga Tibor Institute of Musical Art where I graduated in 1998 with excellent classification. In 2009 I was accepted to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. I post-graduated specialist training program in Public Education Manager and Pedagogue with Special

Qualification Examination Postgraduate Specialization program where I graduated in 2011. In 2009 I got a prize of Excellent Pedagogue from the City of Veszprem Mayor because my students earned excellent prizes on county and national music competitions. During my teachers and leaders years I toured Europe with symphonic orchestras as oboe player and with blues band as pianist.  I toured with a choir who has received international awards enriching my musical sciences.

I have been living in Canada for 10 years and I want to continue my music teaching because music and teaching is one of the most important things in my life. I would love to be given a chance to share my musical experiences and special famous Hungarian musical knowledge, the Kodaly method.

Recorder lessons

To learn the recorder is affordable, easy to learn and to play. You can make good progress in just a few weeks. Good choice for any beginner (child or adult) with no music experience. It is a real instrument that is child-sized (soprano recorder). It gives you the confidence and skills to learn other instruments. The recorder is portable, so you can take it on trips.

Clarinet and Oboe lessons

The clarinet and oboe is a woodwind instrument.
They are  a versatile instrument. You can play many styles and genres of music on it. These instruments are affordable for students. It sounds great, is portable and ideal for beginners. It improves coordination and fine motor skills. It is common in Orchestras and School Bands. The Clarinet can open the door to a wide range of instruments in the Woodwind family, such as the ever popular Saxophone. It may not be plain sailing, but you’ll be able to transfer many of the skills you’ve learnt with the Clarinet over to other Woodwind instruments.
